Mini Biography

Laurits was created on the isle of Bornholm and raised in Copenhagen. From an early on age he began painting and pulling and thought to be a painter like his dad. But he noticed that this work was too unhappy and thought that film producing will be like painting, simply with people as colours. At age 15 he lived in Mexico for just one year along with his parents. This stay influenced him to return 7 years later on to take his 1st professional film “The Group” (1996) in the desert of Oaxaca. At age 29 he won an Oscar for his graduation film “Between Us” through the National Film College of Denmark. The entire year after he produced 1st his feature film “Ambulance” (2005) for Nordisk Film and offers since created and directed both fiction, documentary and a some uncommon mixes among. He thinks that fiction can be staged dream and documentary can be staged reality. There is just subjective truth.
