Andrew Timothy (1912-9 Dec 1990) was an Anglican priest and BBC Radio announcer, who’s best remembered to be the initial announcer from the humor series The Goon Display. Timothy announced for the BBC House Support from 1947 to 1959. Timothy announced The Goon Display from its inception in 1951, but remaining part-way through the 4th series in 1953 “fearing for his sanity” and was replaced simply by Wallace Greenslade, who remained on the display until it finished in 1960. Nevertheless, when THE FINAL Goon Show of most was stated in 1972 Greenslade experienced died, therefore Timothy returned to announce the unique reunion show. Whenever a remake from the Goon Present (known as Goon Once again) was manufactured in 2001, it had been announced by Timothy’s kid Christopher. Afterwards he became among the first BBC tv newsreaders (albeit out-of-vision) from July to Sept 1954. He was the daddy of professional Christopher Timothy, whose perhaps most obviously function was the veterinarian Adam Herriot in the BBC Television series All Animals Great and Little.
