Mini Biography

Comedian Bob Wish was created Leslie Townes Wish in Eltham, London, Britain, the 5th of seven sons of Avis (Townes), light opera vocalist, and William Henry Wish, a stonemason from Weston-super-Mare, Somerset. His maternal grandmother was Welsh. Wish transferred to Bristol before emigrating along with his parents to the united states in 1908. After some years in the stage being a dancer and comedian, he produced his initial film appearance in THE BEST Broadcast of 1938 (1938) performing “Thanks a lot for the Storage,” which became his personal tune. Together with Bing Crosby and Dorothy Lamour, he made an appearance in the extremely successful “Street to …” comedies (1940-1952), and in lots of others before early 1970s. During Globe War II as well as the Korean and Vietnam wars he spent enough time engaging the soldiers in the field. For these actions as well as for his continuing contributions towards the sector he was presented with a particular Academy Award on five events.
