Mini Biography

Daisaku Shirakawa only co-directed two films, both for Toei–Saiyûki (1960) (“Trip to the Western world”) and Wanwan Chûshingura (1963) (“Doggie March”). These were tasks of Osamu Tezuka, and it’s really feasible that Shirakawa just did “specialized directing” jobs in these movies. Later Shirakawa aimed several shows of it series Fujimaru from the Blowing wind (1964), located in a manga by Sampei Shirato, plus some of them had been exhibited as films with a fresh editing soon after. His version from the manga by ‘Shotarô Ishimori’, Saibogu 009: Kaijû senso (1967) (“Cyborg 009: Underground Duel”), was his last film for Toei. From 1968 he worked freelance, and was among the directors of it series located in the Tetsuya Chiba manga “Battle!! Pyuta”. Finally he became a member of the Managing Division of Hakuhodo and from 1993 dedicated his time for you to painting postcard blossoms, holding many exhibitions and composing an illustrated publication about postcard blossoms from the world. He’s also Superintendent from the Painting Holiday Golf club.
