Mini Biography

Daisaku Shirakawa only co-directed two films, both for Toei–Saiyûki (1960) (“Trip to the Western world”) and Wanwan Chûshingura (1963) (“Doggie March”). These were tasks of Osamu Tezuka, and it’s really feasible that Shirakawa just did “specialized directing” jobs in these movies. Later Shirakawa aimed several shows of it series Fujimaru from the Blowing wind (1964), located in a manga by Sampei Shirato, plus some of them had been exhibited as films with a fresh editing soon after. His version from the manga by ‘Shotarô Ishimori’, Saibogu 009: Kaijû senso (1967) (“Cyborg 009: Underground Duel”), was his last film for Toei.
