David Quantic was created and raised in Derby, Kansas – a pathetic reason for any suburb located beneath the airline flight patterns of McConnell Air flow Pressure Base’s B52 Bombers just beyond Wichita. After graduation, Quantic quickly got the hell away of Kansas and (don’t inquire why) taken care of head to Southern Methodist University or college (Home from the George W. Bush Collection! No, that isn’t a tale…) in Dallas where he received a BFA in Studio room Art. After graduating cum laude, he got the hell out of Tx and relocated to NEW YORK where he (hardly) survived like a portrait photographer and photographer’s assistant. In 1999 Quantic loaded in the pickup (poultry coops and everything) and drove cross-country to wait UCLA’s MFA film directing program. Since graduating in 2004, Dave has continued to create short films which have appeared in various festivals including Hand Springs International Brief Celebration, Ann Arbor aswell as LA’s Outfest and Frameline in SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA. In ’09 2009, he participated in the Berlinale’s Skill Campus and shot his brief film, Transatlantic, on location in Berlin utilizing a Nikon D90. Davey was also the cinematographer for VITO, a documentary by Jeffrey Schwarz about the life span of legendary queer film historian and Helps activist Vito Russo, that was shown on the 2011 NY Film Celebration and broadcast within HBO’s 2012 Docs Summertime Series. In 2012, Dave finished the brief film, “Bakersfield, Globe” starring Missi Pyle, Artemis Pebdani and Ethan Sandler.
