Writer/movie director/maker Don Schain produced his feature debut using the softcore outing The Like Object (1970). A previous Manhattan cinema supervisor, Schain and his partner Ralph T. Desiderio conceived the theory for the notoriously trashy “Ginger” exploitation picture trilogy in 1970. Schain published and aimed all three of the immensely well-known cult movies: Ginger (1971), The Abductors (1972) and Ladies Are for Caring (1973). The “Ginger” flicks starred brassy blonde Cheri Caffaro as an attractive yet tough feminine Wayne Bond-style crimefighter who utilized harsh and intense methods to toenail the villains. Don consequently directed Caffaro in the similarly sleazy drive-in products A Place Known as Today (1972) and As well Hot to take care of (1977). Schain and Caffaro had been married for some time, but ultimately divorced. Don offers since remarried.
