Dorcas Brower was publicized as the initial authentic “Eskimo” celebrity to surface in a Hollywood film. She was age group 20 during her just film appearance, 1960’s Glaciers Palace. (Remember that “Eskimo” was the word found in all publicity produces, and by Brower herself in interviews.) Brower was from Stage Barrow, Alaska, and graduated from Sheldon Jackson Junior University in Sitka, where she majored in dramatics. Studio room publicity determined her as 1959’s Miss Alaska, although this is false. (Publicists also shaved a year or two off her age group in later promotion dispatches, declaring she was 20 in 1960, but 19 in 1961.) She actually is the granddaughter of Charles Brower, writer of the basic memoir “50 Years Beneath No”, which continues to be in print. Brower returned to Alaska after filming her function seeing that “Una” in Glaciers Palace, and resumed her are an air travel stewardess for Alaska Airlines. She didn’t go after a Hollywood profession, but instead remained in the air travel business. She afterwards wedded, and with her hubby, founded and went Cape Smythe Atmosphere Providers, a 16-airplane regional airline working out of Stage Barrow.
