The wonderfully eccentric, snaggle-toothed Edith Massey met movie director John Waters while working like a barmaid so when who owns a thrift shop, Edith’s Shopping Bag at Fells Stage, Baltimore. Captured by her effervescent appeal, Waters solid Massey in Multiple Maniacs (1970) as Jesus’s mom. Her next part was as Mama Edie in Red Flamingos (1972). She made an appearance in lots of of Water’s previously films before Polyester (1981), in addition to being the main topic of a biographical brief film, Love Notice to Edie (1975). After her role as Queen Carlotta in Desperate Living (1977), Massey embarked on a singing career which result in a nationwide tour, usually performing cover songs including “Big Girls Don’t Cry” and “Punks, LOG OFF the Grass” Fellow Dreamlander Cookie Mueller occasionally performed like a backup singer.
