Grace McDaniels experienced severe face deformity; she made an appearance in Harry Lewiston’s sideshow (for $175 weekly) billed as “The Mule-Faced Female”. Her appearance apparently caused some within the target audience to faint. Despite her personal misfortune, those that knew her explained her as an extremely kind, caring person. She ultimately married, as well as the union created a child who ultimately became his mother’s business supervisor and journeyed with her until her loss of life. A documentary film about Elegance McDaniels was stated in 1950, but by no means released.
