Jean-Benoît Lévy had not been yet another film director. He aimed some top quality feature movies, whether silent or speaking (“Ames d’enfant” [1927], “La maternelle” [1934], “La mort du cygne” [1937] …), and he was also interested in pedagogy, producing over 300 extremely interesting educational pants dealing generally with social, open public health topics, dance and artwork. A film theoretician, he had written books (“Le cinéma d’enseignement et d’éducation” [1929], “L’instruction visuelle aux Etats-Unis” [1936], “Les grandes missions du cinéma” [1945]) and trained cinema, especially at New York’s Ecole Libre at the brand new College from 1941 to 1946. After getting the honorary Movie director of Filmaking in the UNESCO (1946-1949), he resumed his profession, making some new pants.
