In 1933, she was hired to be always a secretary by Alfred Hitchcock. She quickly graduated to reading books and scripts, composing synopses and adding to scripts. In 1939, she followed Hitchcock to Hollywood, operating as his associate so that as a writer. In 1941, she was employed like a scriptwriter by MGM. In 1943, she became a maker at Common. From 1955 to 1962, she created it series, Alfred Hitchcock Presents (1955).
