At age seven, he and his family moved to Oregon. After their studies at the School of Oregon, he implemented in his father’s footsteps and became a dental practitioner, graduating from North Pacific Teeth University. From 1929 to 1937, he applied oral medical operation in Eugene, Oregon. Then transferred his practice to Altadena, CA. There he became a member of the Pasadena Community Playhouse, ultimately quitting dentistry at age 36 to be an professional. He produced his film debut in 1939. His chubby encounter and gravelly tone of voice were highlighted in over 100 movies, but he’s perhaps most widely known for TV jobs in Judge Roy Bean (1956), Petticoat Junction (1963), and Cade’s State (1971).
