A career police officer, John Nichols served as main of police in Detroit and later on Farmington Hillsides, Michigan. He finished his profession as sheriff of Oakland Region, Mich., the suburb simply north of Detroit. While offering as main, he performed himself in the blaxsploitation film Detroit 9000, without doubt hoping how the film would help his 1973 marketing campaign for mayor against Coleman Youthful. It didn’t, and Nichols quickly left Detroit.
