Mini Biography

Son of large financial company Danny Singleton and pharmaceutical firm sales professional Sheila Ward and raised in individual households by his unmarried parents, John Singleton attended the Film Composing Program in USC after graduating from senior high school in 1986. While learning there, he gained three writing honours in the university, which resulted in a agreement with Creative Performers Company during his sophomore calendar year. Columbia Images bought his script for Boyz n the Hood (1991) and budgeted it at $7 million. Singleton records that a lot of the story originates from his very own encounters in South Central LA and credits his parents with keeping him off the road.
