Jonas Mekas, given birth to Dec 24, 1922, Semeniskiai, Birzai, Lithuania, is a movie director, cinematographer, editor, article writer, actor, poet, designer and publicist. A lot more than 60 years of tireless function in film, arts and press has gained him the epithet “The Godfather of American Avant-Garde Movie theater”. In 1944 Jonas Mekas remaining Lithuania, along with his sibling Adolfas, due to the battle. The both of these were imprisoned inside a labor-camp in Elmshorn, Germany. After eight weeks they escaped to Denmark. By the finish of 1949 the Mekas brothers emigrated towards the U.S., settling in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY. Fourteen days after his introduction, he borrowed the amount of money to get his 1st Bolex 16mm video camera and started to record short occasions of his existence. Additional films consist of “Walden” (1969), “Reminiscences of the Trip to Lithuania” (1972), “Shed Lost Shed” (1975), “Moments from the life span of Andy Warhol” (1990), “Moments from the life span of George Maciunas” (1992), “As I had been Moving Ahead I noticed Short Glimpses of Beauty” (2000), “Notice from Greenpoint” (2005), “Sleepless Evenings Tales” (2011) and “Out-takes from the life span of the Happy Guy” (2012). In 2007, he finished some 365 short movies released on the web — one film each day — and since that time has continued to talk about new focus on his site. He presently lives and functions in NEW YORK.
