American songwriter who made up hundreds of tunes, most of them now standards. The child of the journalist, Whitson was created in Hickman Region, Tennessee, where she collaborated with her sister Alice on lyrics. She also published poetry and was broadly published like a poet and fiction article writer. In 1909, she experienced popular with her track “Meet up with Me Tonight in Dreamland,” repopularized years later on in the film In the nice Aged Summertime (1949). Her most long lasting song arrived in 1910: “I WANT TO Contact You Sweetheart.” She passed away at 51 in Nashville and was buried there.
