Josef Eichheim was a German singer, comedian, stage and film acting professional. In 1905 he shifted to Switzerland where he researched performing in Zurich; his teaching there is instrumental in assisting him to discover work. In 1932 he played in the Munich Kammerspiele and Bayerischen Staatstheater, and in every appeared in about 67 films including Rosen in Tirol (1940) (“The Parrot Seller”, “Le Marchand d’oiseaux”) (1940) and Die falsche Braut (1945) (“The False Bride-to-be”, “La Fausse fiancée”) opposing Elfriede Datzig. Through the battle, Goebbels asked him to try out in “Jud Süss”; nevertheless, Eichheim declined. In 1945 he was imprisoned from the American Army Police in Internierungslager Emmering, near Fürstenfeldbruck. There he became sick and was shifted to a medical center in Haar, near Munich, where he passed away November 14, 1945, still unacquainted with why he previously been imprisoned.
