Joined Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve (RNVR) in 1940. After a couple of months at Portland (HMS Osprey), he was submitted to Alexandria, Egypt (HMS Nile) where he offered 1940-1942. From 1942 up till his loss of life he was borne over the books from the Admiralty [HMS Leader] “for particular and miscellaneous providers”. He was wiped out flying home to become demobilized.
