Mini Biography

Lewis Seiler visited Hollywood in 1919 and worked like a gag guy and assistant movie director before directing several two-reel comedies. He was carefully connected with Tom Blend Westerns through the 1920s. He spent a lot of the 1930s at Warner Brothers, turning out a few of that studio’s grittier gangster photos and “sociable theatre” films–Crime College (1938), King from the Underworld (1939), Hell’s Kitchen (1939), to mention a few–and he was in charge of what’s generally regarded as among the finest battle photos to emerge from Hollywood, Guadalcanal Journal (1943). Retiring from movies in 1958, he considered tv where he held occupied up to enough time of his loss of life.
