Lisa F. Jackson continues to be making documentary movies for over 35 years, function which has brought her honours including two Emmy honours and a Sundance Jury Reward. Lisa (Elisabeth) Finch Jackson was created in SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA, CA in 1950, the child of Nancy Abrams and Morton B Jackson. When she was youthful, both her dad and step-father, Donald Carmichael, had been in the CIA and for that reason she moved frequently, surviving in Bangkok, Thailand and in Bogota, Colombia before settling in Washington DC in 1963. Jackson studied filmmaking in MIT with Richard Leacock and has directed and/or edited a large number of movies for PBS including: Voices and Visions: Emily Dickinson, Jackson Pollock: Family portrait, Through Madness (1993 NYC Emmy champion), The Creative Soul, Storytellers, The Vehicle Cliburn Piano Competition; Expenses Moyers’ Journal, the prize-winning series YOUR BRAIN, and sections for Sesame Road and Live from Lincoln Middle. Jackson’s other honours include an Emmy Honor for Outstanding Informational Particular (’99); a fresh York Town Emmy (’93); three CINE Golden Eagles; Greatest Documentary Awards from your Rome Indie Film Event and International Dark DocuFest; Target audience Choice Awards from your London HRWFF, One Globe Slovakia, Vancouver, Breckenridge and Cinequest film celebrations; a Gracie Award from AWRT; four Houston International Film Event Platinum Awards; a Metallic Chris Award from your Columbus International Film Event; a well planned Parenthood “Maggie” Award for Outstanding Documentary; two Platinum Clarion Awards from Ladies in Communications; this year’s 2009 iWitness Award from Jewish Globe View and a Movies That Matter Award from Amnesty International.
