Known as the founder of contemporary Chicano theatre and film, Luis Valdez was created to migrant farm workers Francisco and Armida Valdez and spent his early life touring using the family, employed in the fields himself. He ultimately discovered himself at San Jose Condition University, where his perform “The Shrunken Head of Pancho Villa” was staged in 1964. He later on became a member of the United Plantation Employees and staged improvisational theatre by using union actors to help expand their causes. This function lead to the forming of his Un Teatro Campesino, which created the majority of Valdez’ early takes on in both US and European countries.
