Mini Biography

Marjorie Gateson learned elocution and poise from her mom, a speech instructor. It was unsurprising that her style, appropriate manners and usage of language resulted in her regular portrayals of higher crust culture matrons, hostesses, public climbers and blue-blooded snobs. Her stage profession started in the chorus of ‘The Dove of Tranquility’ in 1912 and her initial featured function was on Broadway in ‘The Small Cafe’, the next year. She continuing in musical humor until her initial dramatic function in ‘So That is Politics’ (aka ‘Unusual Bedfellows’) in 1924. Various other notable theatrical assignments included ‘A Midsummer Night’s Wish’, ‘Road Picture’, ‘Pygmalion’, and ‘Present Sail boat’, her last in 1954, as Parthy Ann Hawks (a component performed in the 1951 film by Agnes Moorehead). She was notable on display screen being a jilted wife in The Sterling silver Coating (1932), A rival to Mae West in Goin’ to City (1935) and, within a rare comical performance, as society matron Mrs. Winthrop LeMoyne, acquiring boxing lessons from Harold Lloyd in The Milky Method (1936). Critical compliment came her method even in smaller sized roles, acted, such as Female Killer (1933), with her ‘customary polish and attraction’ (NY Situations,January 1 1934). Marjorie Gateson was for a few years an associate on the regulating plank of Actor’s Collateral.
