In the first days of silent pictures, Marshall Neilan was a high director for Goldwyn Pictures. He previously also directed a small amount of Louis B. Mayer’s separately created melodramas, but there is a shared dislike between your two men. Through the festivities inaugurating the merger of Metro and Goldwyn Images on Apr 26, 1924, Neilan grew disgusted at the chance of hearing Mayer’s talk and interrupted everything by buying his ensemble and crew back again to the group of Tess from the D’Urbervilles (1924).
