A prolific author of satirical laughter, Max Shulman was created in St.Paul, Minnesota, USA, the boy of the Russian immigrant home painter, and began his composing career for the faculty laughter magazine on the College or university of Minnesota. His function there found the notice of the Doubleday editor, who prompted the student to carefully turn his greatest work right into a book, “Barefoot Boy With Cheek”, which became a best-seller in 1943.
