Michael Chekhov was a Russian acting professional in the Moscow Artwork Theater who emigrated to America and made a profession in Hollywood, earning himself an Oscar nomination. He was created Mikhail Aleksandrovich Chekhov in St. Petersburg, Russia in 1891. His mom, Natalya Golden, was Jewish, and his dad, Aleksandr Chekhov, was a sibling of article writer Anton Chekhov. Anton had written of his four-year-old nephew in 1895, “I really believe that he includes a developing skill.” From 1907-11 he researched classic crisis and humor at Suvorin Theatre College in St. Petersburg, graduating with honors as acting professional. In St. Petersburg he fulfilled Konstantin Stanislavski who asked him to become listed on the Moscow Artwork Theater. His college students included Gregory Peck, Marilyn Monroe, Gary Cooper, Ingrid Bergman, Anthony Quinn, Jack port Palance, Feodor Chaliapin Jr., Elia Kazan, Clint Eastwood, Yul Brynner and several other Hollywood stars and directors. By the end of his life Chekhov reunited along with his daughter Ada Tschechowa in California. He passed away in 1955 in Beverly Hillsides, and was laid to rest in the Forest Yard Cemetery in LA.
