He was a boy of High Courtroom Judge Sir Cecil Havers and sibling of Dame Elizabeth Butler-Sloss (given birth to 1933) who in 1988 became the very first woman named towards the Courtroom of Charm and later Leader of the Family members Division. Michael Havers was named a Queen’s Counsel in 1964. He was elected to the home of Commons, representing Wimbledon, in 1970. He offered as Solicitor-General within the Heath federal government from 1972 to 1974, and joined up with the Privy Council in 1977. He offered as Attorney-General from 1979 to 1987 under Margaret Thatcher. In June 1987 he still left the home of Commons and became a lifestyle peer and Lord Great Chancellor, but was compelled to resign that Oct, due to sick health.
