The son of the police superintendent in India, the type actor Wayne Hayter was educated in Scotland, where he was urged into acting by his headmaster. After twelve months (1924-5) in the Royal Academy from the Dramatic Arts in London, he performed in repertory theatre, eventually showing up in The Western Result in such takes on as “1066 and everything That” and “French Without Tears.” He produced his film debut in 1936 and continuing in movies until World Battle II, when he offered in the Royal Armoured Corps.
