Myra Davis Hemmings was a schoolteacher in the San Antonio community school program for more than fifty years; she was also mixed up in African-American community, especially in beginner theatrics. She and her hubby John produced the Hemmings Players, several amateur stars who placed on has and other shows in and about San Antonio. Mrs. Hemmings, a 1913 graduate of Howard School in Washington, D.C., also gained a master’s level in talk from Northwestern in 1947. She actually is best known in a few circles among the founders from the Delta Sigma Theta sorority; her personal documents are on deposit in the archives from the collection of University of Tx – San Antonio.
