Discovered with a talent scout at Northwestern University in 1958, Paula Prentiss was agreed upon by Metro Goldwyn Mayer and teamed with Jim Hutton within a string of comedies. She quickly became one of the better American comediennes from the 1960s. Her funny tone of voice inflexions, free performing design and brunette visual appearance set up her as a respected female in comedies from the screwball type, although she was extremely proficient at dramatic assignments, too. Very little drawn to the Hollywood picture, she retired from movies on several events, credited also to disease and motherhood, but she was generally respected and welcome whenever she enjoyed a resurgence. She and her hubby, the professional and movie director Richard Benjamin, will be the parents of Ross Benjamin and Prentiss Benjamin.
