A native of SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA, Richard Caffey graduated UCLA using a degree running a business administration, but headed direct for the group of the research fiction common, George Pal’s The Battle from the Worlds (1953), which he was assistant movie director. He subsequently offered as production supervisor on ratings of major films, including A LOCATION in sunlight (1951) and Cecil B. DeMille’s The Ten Commandments (1956) (which his sibling, Michael Caffey, was helper editor). Being a tv manufacturer he helmed such well-known series as Fight! (1962), Jigsaw John (1976) and INFIRMARY (1969). Called to mind MGM’s video arm, he was instrumental in creating a succession of strike shows, including Potato chips (1977), Logan’s Operate (1977) and The way the Western Was Won (1976). Caffey was mind of creation at MGM Televison when the idea of a new, up to date screen edition of Buck Rogers in the 25th Hundred years (1979)–studded with space-age unique effects–was taken to his attention.
