Born close to Vienna in 1872, Reinert’s early existence is shrouded in secret. He evidently became an effective novelist, posting “Der Weg zur Sonne” (1906) and “Krieg” (1907). After 1900 he relocated to Munich, where he became a member of Frank Wedekind’s cabaret, “Die Elf Scharfrichter”. His 1st film script was for movie director William Wauer at Projektions-Union A.G., Berlin, in 1915. He accomplished a huge achievement along with his script for Otto Rippert’s six component dream film, Homunculus (1916), and was after that employed by Decla-Bioscop to create and direct movies for Maria Carmi. He became creative supervisor at Decla-Bioscop, Berlin, generating over twenty movies in 1917-1918. In July 1918 Reinert remaining Decla-Bioscop to create his own organization, Robert Reinert Monumental-Film GmbH. In 1920 the business merged with other Munich centered production firms to create Münchner Lichtspielkunst Konzern (Emelka). In 1925, following the industrial failing of his last movies, he became a member of Ufa as maker and scriptwriter. He passed away suddenly of the coronary attack in August 1928 and was buried in Munich.
