Sam A. Perry, given birth to Samuel A. Perlstein in Odessa, Russia in 1884. His education included: College or university of Odessa,and Royal Academy of Musical and Theatrical Arts, Vienna. He was a concert pianist who toured throughout European countries. Sam spent 12 years as general musical movie director and recording supervisor for Conorized Music Co. of NY. He authored over 500 varied compositions – symphonic poems, traditional and popular tracks. He created many instructional guides for harmonica which where found in schools through the entire USA. Sam moved into the film sector through David H. Broekman of General Images in1929. He was key associate to Broekman and an employee composer at General in 1930-31. He constructed complete ratings for “The Jade Container” (1930), “Tarzan the Tiger” (1929), and “Lightning Express” (1930). Sam constructed incidental music for the 1929 part-talkie reissue of: “The Phantom from the Opera” , “All Calm on the European Front side” (1930) international edition, and “Hell’s Heroes” (1930) amongst others. He was wedded to Louise Perry plus they had one young child, Robert given birth to 1921, passed away 1991. Sam passed away in Hollywood, California on November 1, 1936. He’s survived by three granddaughters and six great-grandchildren.
