Mini Biography
Selena was created in Lake Jackson, Tx, a town 50 kilometers southeast of Houston, to Abraham Quintanilla Jr. and Marcella Quintanilla. Abraham opened up a Mexican cafe, Papagayo, in Lake Jackson. Selena was 9-years-old when her dad discovered her skill for performing. He shaped a band comprising Selena on vocals, her sibling A.B. Quintanilla on bass, and her sister Suzette Quintañilla on drums. The group, known as Los Dinos after a music group Abraham was an associate of in the 1950s and 1960s, regularly performed in the cafe. In 1981, the family members shifted to Corpus Christi where Abraham began booking his music group out for wedding ceremonies and celebrations. This became their life-style. Selena and Los Dinos’ big break arrived in 1987, when the after that-15-year-old Selena earned the Tejano Music Honor for Feminine Entertainer of the entire year. That honor led Selena to a significant record label agreement with Capitol Information and six extremely effective albums. By 1992, Selena got branched out and released her clothing range and wedded her guitarist, Chris Perez. In 1994, she was nominated and earned her 1st Grammy for Greatest Mexican-American recording, “Selena Live!” That same yr, she opened up her first shop in Corpus Christi, Tx. After that, on March 31, 1995, Selena was murdered by Yolanda Saldivar, her friend and chief executive of her lover club.
