After a stint like a jazz musician and a vaudeville entertainer, Sidney Lanfield was hired by Fox Film Corp. in 1926 like a gag article writer and taken to Hollywood. Producing his debut like a movie director in 1930, he specialised in romances and light comedies, directing a lot of Bob Hope’s movies in the 1930s and 1940s.
