Laffit Pincay Jr. retired in Apr 2003 as equine racing’s all-time winningest jockey until that point, with 9,530 victories. He was surpassed in 2006 by Russell Baze, who by March 2014 offers over 12,208 wins. Along with his 8,834th win at Hollywood Recreation area in California on December 10, 1999, he surpassed jockey legend William Shoemaker (popularly referred to as Bill Shoemaker or “The Shoe”), thereby setting (in those days) a fresh career jockey victory record, while up to speed “Irish Nip,” the horse that gained him his record 8,834th traveling win. Winner from the 1984 Kentucky Derby aboard “Swale” as well as the champion of 3 consecutive Belmont Stakes, 1982, 1983, and 1984. The 1984 Belmont competition was also aboard “Swale,” producing them winners of two out of three hip and legs from the 1984 Triple Crown, lacking just The Preakness Stakes at Baltimore’s Pimlico Competition Track. He hardly ever gained The Preakness, and after 1984, he hardly ever rode another equine to victory in virtually any Triple Crown competition, capping his Triple Crown record at four wins.
