Austrian-born Walter Szurovy began his operating career around the Vienna stage, and played out in Karlsbad, Iglau, Maehrisch Ostrau and in 1937 in the Theatre in Prague, Czechoslovakia. He made an appearance in various Western films: Not really a Term About Like (1937) (Czech; German name “Kein Wort von Liebe”), Life’s Mirror (1938) (German; US name “Life’s Reflection”), Menschen in den Bergen (1938) (Czech-Austrian), Resort Sacher (1939) with Elfriede Datzig and the united states film To Possess and Have Not really (1944) predicated on the publication by Ernest Hemingway, starring Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall. In 1941 he founded the Polk-Szurovy Company in Hollywood. From 1947 he worked as personal supervisor to his wife, Metropolitan Opera celebrity Risë Stevens. In 1950 he required a small component in a Western German film, Fall 7:9 (1951). He and his wife will be the parents of film and tv acting professional Nicolas Surovy, given birth to in 1946.
