Zahari Zhandov was a Bulgarian film movie director, scriptwriter and cinematographer. He was created on Oct 1, 1911 in the town of Ruse. Initially, he researched mathematics and administrative sciences. His debut in filmmaking was using the brief documentary 1 DAY in Sofia (1946). Security alarm (1951) was the directorial debut of Zahari Zhandov in fiction movies. In old age, he became a substantial number in Bulgarian movie theater. In Alarm, as with his following film The Heroes of Sept (1954), Zhandov centered his strategy on a company idea of traditionalism and on the romanticizing monumentality. Later on he found direct movies like Shibil (1968), Parrots Come Soaring to Us (1971) as well as the Expert of Boyana (1981). Zhandov got a Golden Hand nomination in the Cannes Film Event in 1957 for the film Globe. In 1969, he was an associate from the jury in the 6th Moscow International Film Event. He passed away on Feb 2, 1998 in Sofia.
