Andy Clyde’s a lot more than 40-yr film profession started within the vaudeville stages and music halls in his indigenous Scotland in the 1920s. He produced his method to Hollywood and started as a supplementary in Mack Sennett comedies, but he was quickly shifted up to presented player, generally the sidekick or second banana towards the lead. He’s best remembered, nevertheless, for his many tasks as the comedy-relief sidekick in ratings of westerns, generally combined with William Boyd in the “Hopalong Cassidy” series as California Carson or with Whip Wilson inside a lower-budgeted group of westerns at Monogram playing “Winks” (for reasons uknown, his personality in each admittance from the series was known as Winks, but frequently got a different last name).
