Archie Savage produced an essential contribution to African-American Dance in america. Delivered in Norfolk, Virginia and elevated in New York’s Harlem. Archie’s initial launch to the globe of contemporary dance emerged when he became a member of the “Hemsley Winfield’s Dance Troupe” in the 1930’s. In 1939, Archie became a member of the “Katherine Dunham Dance Troupe” and afterwards was an integral part of a country wide stage creation of “Cabin in the Sky”. He became Ms. Dunham’s dance partner and in addition helped created what’s referred to as the “Afro/Cuban” dance type.
