Mini Biography

José Azarola was created in Zumaia, in the province of Guipuzcoa, about November 19, 1906. He researched in the Conservatory of Madrid and around the thirties he setup his personal jazz orchestra. Sadly, no recordings by Azarola are held prior to the Spanish Civil Battle. It appears that the first 78s that he documented are in the first 40’s, when the Spanish music market begins to recuperate from the harm due to the battle. His career can be activated thereafter, he made up soundtracks, showing up in movies like ‘El enredo de familia’ (‘A tangle of family members’, Ignacio F. Iquino, 1943), and lastly resolved in Mexico in the 50s, in whose capital town he passed away at fifty years of age.
