Amiable and remarkable character actor Billy Green Bush appeared in a small number of offbeat and long lasting cult traditional features manufactured in the first ’70s. Tall, good-looking and rangy, Bush frequently portrayed engaging great ol’ guy types, tough cowboys and stern cops. He was created as William Warren Bush in 1935. Billy was wonderful as sluggish hillbilly essential oil rig employee Elton in Bob Rafelson’s great Five Easy Parts (1970). He was also superb as cop Robert Blake’s affably dimwitted partner Zipper in the marvelous Electra Glide in Blue (1973). Bush offered another outstanding efficiency as tough-as-nails path manager Frank Culpepper in the superbly gritty European The Culpepper Cattle Co. (1972). Additional memorable roles add a hard-nosed sheriff in Welcome House, Soldier Young boys (1971), no-nonsense Warden Earl Gulliver in the effective made-for-TV film The Jericho Mile (1979), gruff condition trooper Donner in The Hitcher (1986), and resolute farmer Jay Dark brown in the greatly pleasurable creature feature Critters (1986). Among it shows Bush did guest places on are Hill Road Blues (1981), The A-Team (1983), Potato chips (1977), The Amazing Hulk (1978), The Dukes of Hazzard (1979), Starsky and Hutch (1975), Baretta (1975), M*A*S*H (1972), Gunsmoke (1955), Banyon (1971), Bonanza (1959), The Outer Restricts (1963), and Renegade (1992). Bush also performed the sheriff in the ninth installment from the slasher franchise ‘Fri the 13th’, entitled Jason Would go to Hell: THE ULTIMATE Fri (1993). He offers since retired from performing. Billy may be the father of acting professional Clay Greenbush and twin stars Sidney Greenbush and Lindsay Greenbush.
