Younger brother of fellow actor/stunt man Joe Robinson, Doug was created Douglas Bowbank Robinson in central Newcastle-upon-Tyne in 1930. Their dad Joseph Robinson Older and grandfather John had been world champ wrestlers, and both brothers been trained in wrestling and body-building. Doug’s film profession started in the middle-1950s, and his early film function included Ben-Hur (1959).
