Ed Gein and his elder sibling Henry lived on the rural plantation close to Plainfield, WI. George Gein, his dad, was a tanner and carpenter and was drunk more often than not. Augusta, Ed’s domineering mom, was the true power of the home. She was a spiritual fanatic who continuously warned her sons about the sins of premarital sex and railed against “bad” ladies. Ed’s father passed away in 1940, and sibling Henry passed away four years later on fighting a marsh open fire (though it was later on suspected that Ed may have wiped out him).
