Diminutive Scots character actor of quirky personality and gift of gab. Like a play pupil at St. Andrews, he initial performed in productions staged with the university’s dramatic culture. He served using the Royal Scots during Globe War I, after that forged a profession playing comic assignments over the Shakespearean stage, where he was frequently billed as ‘D.Hay Petrie’.
