Heikki Aaltoila’s dad was an amateur professional and musician. Aaltoila examined music 1928-34 at Helsinki Conservatoire with Erkki Melartin, Leevi Madetoja and Ernst Linko. He performed the piano in silent films, and also dual bass at Helsinki School Student Orchestra. He previously a job on the Finnish Broadcasting Firm 1939-44, and he was the musical conductor from the Finnish Country wide Theater 1934-73.
