Detroit-born Howard Estabrook entered show business being a stage actor in NY in 1904. He made an appearance in several movies beginning in 1914 as well as directed several in 1917. He still left films for the career available world, but came back in 1921 in professional positions with several studios, then started producing movies in 1924. He shortly considered screenwriting, and was in charge of many of what attended to be thought to be classics of Hollywood: Hell’s Angels (1930), Cimarron (1931) (that he gained an Academy Prize) and David Copperfield (1935), amongst others. He was also nominated for an Academy Prize for his screenplay for Road of Possibility (1930).
