American stage actor who appeared in a few films. Like a son, he journeyed with circuses as an elephant sensitive, before getting into an acting profession at 17. He made an appearance on Broadway and in touring businesses in such takes on as “Graustark,” “An end to Curables,” and “Tiger Rose.” His boy, Wayne Lewis Jr., was also an acting professional, but predeceased his dad by two decades. The older Lewis dedicated his old age to charitable causes and teaching performing. He died abruptly while finding your way through a charity event.
