American poet, novelist and essayist Adam Weldon Johnson was created in Jacksonville, FL, in 1871. He originated from a musically willing family–his sibling was observed composer and songwriter Rosamond Johnson–and received his B.A. from Atlanta School and his M.A. from that organization two years afterwards, a significant fulfillment in an period when many blacks had been prevented from obtaining any advanced schooling at all.
