Given birth to in 1916 in Chicago, Jeni Le Gon trained at Mary Bruce’s College of Dance and performed like a chorus woman, later on in vaudeville, from age group 16. In Hollywood she made an appearance in her debut film, Hooray for Like (1935), as dance partner of the fantastic Expenses Robinson. Though mainly a dancer, Jeni sang well and was an attractive, attractive light celebrity when (hardly ever) given the opportunity. In Hollywood movies 1935-49, her previously appearances had been in niche dance numbers; later on, much like most black celebrities of that time period, in servant functions. Within the forties, Jeni performed prospects or second prospects in a minimum of 5 independently created all-black cast movies. She made an appearance on the brand new York stage regularly (playing prospects in all-black productions) and later on handled the Dance and Theatre Playhouse in LA. After guest looks on “Amos ‘N’ Andy” (1951) she faded from general public view.
