Producing his stage debut at age group 16, John Alexander became a member of a Shakespearean repertory firm and in 1917 made an appearance on Broadway in “The Merchant of Venice.” Although he performed many parts on both stage and in movies, his most widely known part was that from the crazed Teddy Brewster–the boy who feels he’s Theodore Roosevelt – in Arsenic and Aged Lace (1944), a component he performed both on stage and in the film.
